Checked it out yesterday and it was GOOD. Everyone was very friendly and the food came out fast. I had a Ruben Sandwich w/tator tots and my husband had Hamburger Steak. Everything was Hot also.

The negative reviews may have turned us off but the guy in the toll booth recommended this place for breakfast. The service was good and the waitress was polite. I did see her serving others while on her phone which is a little inconsiderate. My wife had a veggie omelette and was happy with it. I had the kitchen sink breakfast and should have ordered the small portion because it's huge. Could have been a little spicier to add some flavor but this meal will carry me the day. Not a five star restaurant but good enough for breakfast. The prices are good and worth the stop.

We gave this place one more try last night. If you like really bland food and poor service, then this is your place. My son was in the mood for soup last night and there are few choices for that in El Dorado. We stood at the front counter for several minutes before we were greeted. When we asked the hostess what their soup was that day, she didn't know and had to go check. Then told us they didn't have any. We should have left then. Our waitress couldn't answer simple questions and didn't really notice when we needed something. We were her only table but she was never around. I love salmon but it was the most tasteless salmon I have ever had. The skin on my baked potato was tough. My carrots had no flavor. We had a company party there when this place first opened and it had a better menu and attentive service. Dinner for two was $31 for two entrees and one ice tea. We could have had a nice meal in Wichita for that.

You had me at "Pan Fried Chicken". I was in town to spend some time with my brother. He is a local and recommended it. I read both reviews and was not excited. I was wrong. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer. Win. Delightfully light, and the onion inside did not sog out.and come out of its breading like every other onion ring, ever. What came next was miraculous. Great American diner food. This fried chicken was better than Babe's in Dallas, which is pretty darn great. The mashed potatoes and brown gravy were just right. The homemade coleslaw was original and interesting. A little bit tangy, maybe a touch of red wine vinegar? The service was excellent and attentive. For great authentic Kansas fried chicken - pretty quick, you want to eat here.

We were greeted at the door with whom I thought was rude, as she was on her phone texting and saying while typing is this ok pointing to the room, or do you want to sit somewhere else? My husband said a table will be just fine. She is still texting and i repeated a table will be fine, she was reading what was on her phone, smiled and then put it in her pocket, THEN she sat us. The waitress was so nice, as she was telling us of the what was good to eat, THEN a young man came up and slapped the young waitress in the backside with menu's. She instantly turned red and he yelled at her to get in the kitchen NOW! .. When she came back out she apologized for us getting interrupted. So we finally order, and I asked the waitress got some cream for our coffee and this lady that was texting comes flying by us and stood three tables down from us, yelling at the waitress that she is "in so much trouble now as she can't do a simple task!" As woman stormed off, waited by the huge black curtain, with a disgust look on her face, took hold of the young lady and went behind the curtain. We could not hear what she was saying to her, but when the young waitress comes out she is shaking. Again she apologized for being taken away from us. I asked out waitress, are you ok? Do you realize that this is not appropriate behavior for anyone to do this to you? She commented, back to us, it's ok. I'm ok. I for one am, NOT ok with behavior like that by anyone treating their staff like that! I've been a shift manager of a much busier restaurant than this and NEVER have I ever seen behaviors like this before. They seem to be more interested in the bar the well, on the other side of the building than the restaurant. The restaurant is black linens and black and brown booths, and brown with outdated carpet! I wish that kind waitress all the best and to find somewhere else to work as the owner/managers need a class in ethics and public relations to make a business a success. Will we be back NO! ... to those who want to go....find another place to eat!!

Wow, never again will we eat here. We were incorrectly informed that this was a good place to get steaks in town. The place has an "odd" odor, I suspect a lack of cleaning or the bar area that takes up half the place. When we walked in, it took a short while for the hostess who was sitting at the bar with friends to realize we were there, one of the wait staff showed up about the same time she did. We ordered some chips & salsa as an appetizer ($4), the chips were somewhat stale. My wife had a wedge salad ($5) which had "decent lettuce", I had the ceasar ($5) which had mostly wilted lettuce with peppery croutons which I only had a few bites of. My wife ordered a medium rare filet ($16) with mushrooms & onions and was served without the mushrooms & onions, those arrived about 5 minutes later. The filet appeared to be cooked properly, but was only warm when it arrived. Less than half was eaten as it was utterly tasteless. I ordered a medium rare ribeye ($16) which arrived warm, but well done. It did have some flavor, but due to overcooking it needed plenty of salt & horseradish. The waitress was very nice and helpful, but since everything else coming out of the kitchen was sketchy at best, I declined her offer to have a new steak recooked. I just didn't get the feeling that the folks in the kitchen cared, which was later confirmed by the manager. My son's lasagna was badly burned on the bottom and looked horribly disgusting as the burnt part had turned to a greasy ooze on the plate as if it had been sitting for awhile. All the while during this, the place was extremely quiet except for the incredibly loud shouts coming from the bar area. The other two families eating there were shocked as well about how loud the folks in the bar were being. The waitress apologized profusely for this, but we assured her that it wasn't her place to apologize for what the folks at the bar were doing. Our family ended our dining experience when we noticed a pile of fly remains next to us on the window sill with a small spider web just above. Upon getting the check for $80, the waitress called over the manager to discuss our less than enjoyable dining experience. The manager defended the salad, the steaks, the lasagna and the cleanliness of the place and was stated they never have complaints of any kind. With her abrasive attitude, I believe she's never listened to any complaints and certainly has not taken any to heart. Save your money and try some of the other places in town (not Huddle House - same attitudes over there).
